Herbal cannabis, thought to be worth almost €3 million euro, has been seized at Shannon Airport.

The 149kg of the drug were in parcels that orginated in Canada and were destined for an address in Co Clare.

The seizure was made today during routine operations by Revenue officers.

The herbal cannabis has an estimated value of €2.98m.

A spokesperson for the Revenue Commissioners said that investigations are ongoing.
