A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Daniel O'Sullivan in Youghal, Co Cork, on Monday night.
Reece Keogh, with an address at North Main Street, Youghal, appeared before a sitting of Midleton District Court where he was charged with the murder of Mr O'Sullivan at Tynan's Bar, North Main Street, Youghal on 14 April.
Detective Garda John O'Donovan of Midleton Garda Station gave evidence of arresting Mr Keogh at Midleton Garda Station at 3.06am this morning, and charging him with Mr O'Sullivan's murder.
Det Gda O'Donovan said that when cautioned, Mr Keogh replied "not guilty".
The State's application was to remand him in custody until 23 April next.
Given the charge, there was no application for bail.
Solicitor Joe Cuddigan applied for free legal aid which was granted by Judge Miriam Walsh.

He also asked that the prison be made aware that his client was "a very vulnerable person, and that the psychiatric section of the prison be made aware of that".
Judge Walsh directed that Mr Keogh receive medical and psychiatric assistance in prison, remanding him in custody to appear again before the District Court in Fermoy on Wednesday 23 April via video link.
