Two men who were questioned by gardaí in Cork following an investigation into the activities of dissident republicans in the city have been released without charge.

Gardaí say files will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The two men were arrested on Monday on the road between Glenville and Whitechurch, around 10km north of Cork city by members of the Garda Special Detective Unit in Cork, backed up by members of the Garda Armed Support Unit.

Both were detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
