Woman dies after three joggers struck by car in Kerry

A woman in her 40s has died and three others, including the driver of a vehicle, have been injured in a road traffic incident in Tralee, Co Kerry.

The woman was one of three runners struck by an SUV on Canal Road shortly before 10am on Sunday.

All four were taken by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry, where the woman was later pronounced dead.

Three others, including the driver of the vehicle, who is in his 80s, are being treated in hospital. They are said to be in a stable condition.

A garda investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal collision is under way. One line of enquiry is that the driver may have suffered a medical incident.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
