A vehicle has been taken for "further examination" by the army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit after a suspect device was found in Co Clare.
Gardaí discovered the device inside a vehicle at Slí an tSionnaigh in Shannon this evening.
The Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit attended the scene.
A cordon was subsequently put in place and the vehicle was removed "for further examination".
A road was closed as a result of the the discovery, but has since reopened.
Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
