Cork teens build igloo to chill out in during cold snap

Three teenage friends in north Cork took advantage of the heavy snowfall to construct an igloo in a front garden.

Leaving Certificate students Colin O'Leary, Seán O’Sullivan and Aidan Buckley spent over five hours on Sunday carefully planning and building their igloo in the O’Leary’s front garden in Commons near Newmarket.

The houses in Commons are currently snow-bound as the rural backroads leading to the area remain impassable.

The igloo has been fitted out with furniture and lights

Unable to leave their townland and without electricity and internet since Sunday morning, the boys decided to occupy themselves by constructing the igloo.

The spacious snow structure measures about six metres in length and is over two metres wide.

The structure is located the front garden of Colin O'Leary's house

The three boys have slept in the igloo in sleeping bags and created makeshift furniture using crates and installed lighting in the igloo.
