An investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 50s following a workplace-related incident in Co Tipperary.
The incident happened at Roscrea Wastewater Treatment Plant shortly after 12.30pm yesterday afternoon.
In a statement, Uisce Éireann said: "It is with deep regret and sadness that Uisce Éireann confirms that a man working on behalf of our contractor has died following an incident yesterday, Wednesday 29 May. The incident occurred on site at Roscrea Wastewater Treatment Plant, Roscrea, Co Tipperary.
"Our thoughts are with the family, work colleagues and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.
"Uisce Éireann are liaising with the Health and Safety Authority and relevant authorities in relation to this incident."
Gardai said the HSA and local coroner were notified and the man's body was removed to UHL, adding that enquires are ongoing.
While the HSA said it is aware of this incident and has launched an investigation. It said there is no further information at this time.
