Watch: Cork woman collects Global Citizen prize in New York

Sophie Healy-Thow from Kinsale, Co Cork is in New York this week to collect a Global Citizen Prize for her work in food, agriculture and nutrition.

This year, the annual prize goes to six "trailblazing change-makers" from across the globe and comes with a donation of $10,000 (€9,200) towards projects of their choice.

In 2021, Ms Healy-Thow founded a youth-led movement called Act4Food, which aims to make the food we eat more sustainable from farm to table.

These days, the 26-year-old advises world leaders on how young people want to see global food systems transform. But it was her mum and granny back in Cork, who first inspired her interest in good Irish food.
