A post-mortem examination on the body of a woman who was found dead in Co Cork yesterday has concluded but gardaí are not releasing the results, for operational reasons.

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death after the woman's body was discovered at a house.

A technical examination of the scene is also continuing this evening.

The 53-year-old woman is a native of Cork city and lived on her own at the house on Sarsfield Terrace, just off the Old Youghal Road.

Her body was removed from the scene last night and brought to the morgue at Cork University Hospital where chief state pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan carried out the post-mortem.
