A man has been arrested following a road crash in Co Clare yesterday evening, in which six people were seriously injured.

The two-car collision occurred on the N67 on the Spanish Point road out of Miltown Malbay at around 6.30pm.

A teenage boy and girl, along with a woman and three men were injured in the crash.

They were all taken to University hospital Limerick to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
