A pedestrian in his 40s is in a critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle in Waterford City this morning, with the vehicle involved failing to remain at the scene.
The hit-and-run happened at the junction of The Glen and Ballybricken at around 11.45am.
The man was seriously injured following the incident, and has been brought to Cork University Hospital where gardaí say he is in a critical condition.
The Glen and Ballybricken roads are currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination, and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
