Teenage girl dies after being hit by car in Limerick

A 14-year-old girl has died after being struck by a car in Limerick city last night.

The incident took place at around 11.40pm in the Bank Place area of the city.

The girl was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries, where she has since died.

No other injuries were reported.

The road at Bank Place is currently closed with local diversions in place.

Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
