A 30-year-old woman who drove her car while drunk and was involved in a serious road collision, which caused life changing injuries to a Garda Inspector, has faced two further charges at Limerick Circuit Court.
Niamh McDonnell, with an address at Gortskagh, Castlemahon Co Limerick, has pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and with driving under the influence of a drug, namely cannabis, at Conmore, Dromcolliher on 30 June last year.
It brings to four the number of charges she has faced arising from the collision.
Ms McDonnell has already pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while drunk, and to dangerous driving causing serious injury to Garda Inspector Niall Flood that evening.
He was out cycling near the village of Drumcolliher, when he was struck by a car driven by Ms McDonnell, who failed to stop.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery for serious injuries to his leg.
Judge Tom O'Donnell remanded Ms McDonnell on continuing bail to 13 November for sentencing.
