A bathing ban at Lahinch beach last Tuesday has been lifted, according to Clare County Council.

The restriction on swimming and other water-based activities was put in place after water sample results showed elevated levels of bacteria following heavy rain.

The ban was introduced after consultation with the Health Service Executive and the blue flag at the beach was replaced with a red warning flag.

The council said the restriction has now been lifted.
