Organisers of the Forever Young music festival say the event is expected to be fully open today after day ticketholders could not enter the site yesterday over weather-related safety concerns.

Yesterday, the Co Kildare festival organisers said that anyone present on the site will be unaffected and they "intend to run the show to a reduced audience", but day ticketholders could not attend the site due to concerns stemming from wet weather conditions.

In a statement posted online yesterday, the festival said: "We are heartbroken to bring you this news, but everyone's safety has to be our priority. Saturday ticket holders and weekend no camping ticket holder sadly can not be admitted to site."

Today, organisers said that yesterday was a "difficult and horrible day for so many," but that Saturday tickets will be valid for today.

"Our amazing teams here have moved mountains to keep FYF 23 alive and I can't thank them enough," festival founder Sharon Alston said.

"We hope to see you all today but if that doesn't suit, all Saturday tickets will be valid for [20]24 and all weekend non camping will receive the equivalent of a free day next year."

Ms Alston added that refund requests will be handled next week.

Today's lineup includes Bananarama, ABC, Midge Ure and Soul II Soul.
