A teenager has been charged with the murder of 43-year-old Thomas Dooley at a cemetery in Tralee, Co Kerry, last October.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named because he is a juvenile, is the fourth person to be charged in relation to the murder.

He was brought before the district court in Tralee, where evidence of arrest, charge and caution was given by Detective Garda Mark O'Sullivan.

Det Gda O'Sullivan told the court he arrested the youth in the presence of his mother at his home and escorted him to Tralee Garda Station where he was charged at 9.40am.

He said the youth made no reply to the charge.

He is charged with the murder of Thomas Dooley on 5 October 2022, at Rath Cemetery, Tralee.

He is also charged that, on October 5 last year at Rath Cemetery, while committing or appearing to commit an offence by causing serious harm to Siobhan Dooley, he produced an improvised weapon with a sharp blade in the course of a fight.

Three other men remain in custody in relation to the murder of Thomas Dooley.

They are Patrick Dooley, 35, Arbutus Grove, Killarney. Thomas Dooley, 41, and Thomas Dooley, 20, both of Bay 10 Halting Site, Carrigrohane Road, Cork.

All three also appeared before the court, via link from prison.

Sgt Chris Manton said that the Book of Evidence for all three will be ready in two weeks.

Det Sgt Ernie Henderson previously told the court that the file in relation to the case was very complex, and over 500 statements have been taken in relation to the investigation.
