A 17-year-old boy is being questioned by gardaí in Cork in connection with a knife attack that has left another teenager in hospital with several stab wounds.
The teenager was arrested just before midnight in relation to the attack on the 18-year-old near Church Hill in Carrigaline at around 11.30pm.
It is understood the two had been drinking together in the town when a row broke out between them and the 18-year-old was stabbed a number of times in his upper body.
The emergency services were alerted and paramedics worked to stabilise the injured teenager.
He was then taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
He is understood to be in a stable condition.
The 17-year-old is being questioned at Togher Garda Station.
