A search is under way on the MacGillyCuddy Reeks in Co Kerry for a missing walker.
The alarm was raised at around 11pm last night when the 61-year-old man failed to return to his accommodation.
John Dunne is from Tipperary and a regular visitor to the area.
Around 30 members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team are currently searching the mountains since 4.30am with the support of the Rescue 117 helicopter from Waterford.
Spokesperson Colm Burke said they have had no sightings of Mr Dunne yet.
The Rescue Team have issued a photograph of Mr Dunne with the permission of his family and are appealing to anyone who may have met or spoken with him on the hills yesterday or this morning to please contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 6631222.
Mr Burke said Mr Dunne left his accommodation early yesterday morning telling them that he planned to "do a few peaks", but did not say which ones so any help with pinning down his location or route would be extremely helpful.
Mr Burke said Mr Dunne did call at around 5.30pm to say he was on his way back but by 11.30pm when he had not returned to his accommodation the alarm was raised.
It is understood he was wearing a red jacket and black pants.
He had a mobile phone with him but it is ringing out.
The team were just down from another rescue on the Ladder near Carrauntoohill Mountain when they got the emergency call.
