Fourteen people have appeared in court in connection with an investigation into street-level drug dealing in Waterford.
The 12 men and two women were arrested during searches of over a dozen locations in Waterford city under Operation Tara, led by the Waterford Divisional Drugs Unit and supported by local uniform and plain clothes gardaí.
All 14 are charged with offences contrary to Sections 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 and appeared before Waterford District Court today.
The court heard a range of drugs were alleged to have been sold or supplied by the accused men and women, including cocaine, diamorphine, alprazolam and cannabis on a range of dates across late 2020 and into recent months.
Collectively, the transactions come to an alleged amount of over €6,000.
The transactions are alleged to have taken place at various places around Waterford city.
None of the 14 accused have yet entered a plea to the allegations.
The defendants were remanded on bail until 15 February, when Judge Kevin Staunton will decide whether he will accept jurisdiction and deal with the cases himself, or send them forward to the Circuit Criminal Court.
