The funeral of Fr Con Cronin, who was fatally injured in a tragic accident involving a bus in Co Cork last Tuesday has taken place.
The collision happened on Strand Road in Monkstown when a Bus Éireann bus went out of control shortly after 1.30pm last Tuesday.
Fr Cronin, who was originally from Bantry in West Cork, celebrated forty years of his ministry two years ago.
He had just had lunch with a friend in the Bosun pub when the tragic accident occurred.
Fr Cronin's funeral mass took place at St Joseph's Church at Coomhola where he was baptised, received his First Holy Communion and celebrated his first Mass after his ordination.
Bishop of Cork and Ross Dr Fintan Gavin said that Fr Cronin had made an extraordinary impact to society over the course of his life.
"The quiet ways in which Con touched so many lives that we weren't even aware of. Those people are feeling the loss of Con today.
"So many have been touched by his life and his ministry. His deep compassion, his humanity, his openness, he was so non-judgemental - it was at the heart of his missionary, he was always reaching out," he said.
The mourners were led by Fr Cronin's brother, Teddy and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Mary, and extended family.
