A Kerry priest plans to use a drone to broadcast outdoor masses in local cemeteries this month.
Fr Patsy Lynch will pilot the drone himself while streaming mass online from cemeteries in Portmagee, the Glen and Ballinskelligs.
The Diocese of Kerry has advised against groups congregating in cemeteries due to the Delta variant.
In Kerry it is customary to celebrate mass outdoors in cemeteries during the month of July.
It had been hoped that parishioners could attend these outdoor services but due to the Delta variant, people have been advised not to attend.
However the in south Kerry parish of Prior, Fr Patsy Lynch plans to proceed with the cemetery masses safely by giving parishioners a novel, aerial perspective.
Fr Patsy said more members of the clergy should embrace the technology available to them.
Weather permitting, Fr Patsy plans to live stream drone coverage of the cemetery masses in mid-July.
