Bus Éireann said a new shuttle bus service to bring people to the vaccination centre at the Raddisson Blu hotel on the outskirts of Limerick city has begun.

The service runs every 20 minutes, seven days a week, in line with the centre's operating hours of 8am-8pm, and will cost €1.68. Free travel passes and TFI leap cards are accepted on the service.

The first bus will leave Colbert station at 7.40am, with the last service at 8.10pm.

The vaccination centre is located in Co Clare, around 8km from Limerick city centre, and near a busy dual carriageway.

The service was introduced after concerns were raised about the difficulties some members of the community faced in trying to access the centre.

The shuttle bus service will continue once the vaccination centre moves to Limerick Racecourse at Patrickswell, which is located 13kms from the city centre, on 7 June.

The bus will make a number of stops at Colbert Station, Henry Street, Ennis Road, Coonagh Roundabout and the Radisson Hotel until then.

From 7 June, the service will leave from University Hospital Limerick at 8am, running every 20 minutes to Patrickswell Racecourse.

The new service is the second dedicated vaccination centre service implemented by the National Transport Authority with Bus Éireann, the other being in Waterford.
