A pop-up Covid-19 test centre will run for three days at Midleton GAA Club in Co Cork this weekend.

It is one of a number of temporary test centres being run across the country by the Health Service Executive to raise community awareness.

The no-appointment testing this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is available to anyone aged 16 and over who are without Covid-19 symptoms.

Dr Anne Sheahan, HSE South - Acting Director of Public Health, thanked those who have come forward for testing so far.

"By coming forward for testing when you don't have symptoms, you are helping the entire community to keep Covid 19 under control The level of Covid-19 infection in Cork remains low and walk-in testing like this is one of the ways we can make sure that continues."

A similar pop-up test centre has been operating in Dunmanway in west Cork for a number of weeks.
