A 72-year-old former scout leader has pleaded guilty to indecently or sexually assaulting ten boy scouts in Cork city.
David Barry, of Montrose, Firgrove Gardens, Bishopstown appeared before Cork Circuit Criminal Court, where he pleaded guilty to a total of 29 sexual offences against the boys on various dates between 1986 and 2008.
The boys, who were members of the Catholic Boys Scouts of Ireland, were aged between 12 and 16 at the time of the sexual offences.
Barry's barrister Senior Counsel Tom Creed told Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin that his client is not "in the best of health".
He said he had applied for a medical report from his GP and cardiologist for the court, but needed four weeks for a specialist psychologist report to be prepared.
State Solicitor Frank Nyhan said that victim impact statements would also have to be prepared for the court.
Remanding Barry on continuing bail, Judge Ó Donnabháin adjourned sentencing in the case until 25 June.
