The historic Theatre Royal in Waterford has confirmed that seating capacity for upcoming shows has been increased to 100.
The new regime comes into effect in time for a concert by Paddy Casey this Saturday night, and follows a comprehensive risk assessment.
Seats have been reconfigured in the theatre in line with the Government's plan for living with Covid-19.
Theatre manager Mary Boland has said that staff have been working behind the scenes to ensure audiences can enjoy a safe night out.
She explained that there will be a strict two-metre distance in place between all booking parties.
"Each floor of the theatre will have its own separate entrance and exit doorway and own toilet facilities, with a one-way system in place throughout the building for ease of access, while hand sanitising stations are positioned upon entering the building and as customers make their way to their seats," she said.
Ms Boland said that face coverings are mandatory both as audience members make their way around the building, and also while seated.
"Every effort we make is worth it and we are so excited here at Theatre Royal to be in a position to increase our audience capacity, in order to meet the demand that so clearly exists here in Waterford for a fun and safe night out at the theatre."
The theatre’s two bars will be open to audiences from 6.30pm on Saturday night.
