The man who died in a farm incident at Ballinhassig in Co Cork yesterday evening has been named locally.

He was 74-year old John Reynolds of The Rising Sun, Ballinhassig.

Mr Reynolds was well-known in the area and in farming circles.

He was bringing cows to be milked on the family's dairy farm just before 6pm when it is understood he was struck by a bull and hit his head as he fell.

He was later pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí will compile a file for the local coroner. An investigation is being carried out by the Health and Safety Authority.
