Gardaí have discovered a cannabis grow house and seized €28,500 worth of drugs at a property in Clonmel, Co Tipperary.

The discovery was made yesterday evening when gardaí executed a search warrant at a house on the north side of the town.

During the search, officers found what has been described as "a sophisticated grow house" in the attic of the building, with 35 suspected mature cannabis plants worth €28,000.

They took possession of grow lamps, heaters and fans as well as €500 of suspected cannabis herb, along with the plants.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s at the scene and he was questioned under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

He was later released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
