Gardaí say the search for 86-year-old Paddy Rainsford, who had been missing from Co Limerick since Wednesday, has been stood down following the discovery of a body in the Ballina area of Tipperary.
Gardai have thanked the public and media for their assistance and say they are working closely with Mr Rainsford's family "during this tragic time".
