Reports indicate up to seven ambulances were left waiting outside University Hospital Kerry - unable to handover their patients for assessment - due to delays at the hospital's Emergency Department two weeks ago.
On the Friday of the October Bank Holiday weekend, it is claimed some patients were left waiting for significant periods of time outside the hospital.
One patient, who'd been brought to the emergency department in from Dingle is believed to have waited for a period of almost three hours before she was finally brought from the ambulance into the hospital.
Local representatives are seeking answers as to why there was such a delay in handing over patients.
Concerns have also been raised as to the level of emergency cover in Kerry during this period, as the ambulances themselves would have experienced delays in returning to their duties - on a busy bank holiday weekend.
RTÉ News contacted the HSE in relation to the reports.
They then issued a statement from the National Ambulance Service who said they could confirm that "some delays in the handover of patients at University Hospital Kerry" occurred on the day in question.
In the statement, the National Ambulance Service said it "works with the hospital in these situations to enable the handover of patients in a timely manner".
