Kuwait Airways will no longer use Shannon Airport as a stopover for its New York flight.
In a statement on Twitter, the airline said it had received approval for a direct route to the US city and there was no longer a need for a transit at the Clare airport.
Since 2016, the Kuwait-New York JFK service has stopped off in Shannon three times weekly.

In a statement, Shannon Airport said the reason it was chosen as the transit in the first place was the airport's reputation for efficient and quick handling of transit aircraft, and that it was always a temporary stop for Kuwait Airways.
A spokesperson for Shannon Airport said they would like to thank the airline for using Shannon since June 2016, and that they would continue to work with Kuwait Airways to "explore further opportunities".
