Murder inquiry under way following death of man in Co Waterford

A murder investigation is under way following the death of a man in Portlaw, Co Waterford.

Emergency services were called to the house on the Coolfin estate at 2.45pm this afternoon.

A man aged in his 50s, who was from the locality, had been seriously injured.

He was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford, but later pronounced dead.

It is understood the man who died had been involved in a row with another man, whom he knew and who was also from Portlaw.

Gardaí are investigating if an implement or weapon was used during the row.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Tramore Garda Station.
