A land and sea search is continuing for a person reported missing off Co Kerry this afternoon.
It is understood that a kitesurfer, last seen around 4pm off Ballybunnion, failed to return to shore.
The Fenit RNLI Lifeboat and the LÉ Niamh are both continuing to search the area tonight.
A shoreline search is also being carried out by the Ballybunnion Coastguard unit.
The Shannon-based search and rescue helicopter, Rescue 115, has now been stood down for the night but will resume searching at first light.
The search operation is being coordinated by watch officers at the Irish Coast Guard's marine rescue sub centre on Valentia Island in Kerry.
The alarm was raised at around 5pm and a major multi-agency operation was launched.
