A 66-year-old man has appeared in court in Bandon charged with the murder of Derry Coakley at Raleigh North, near Macroom earlier this week.
Gerard Lynch, who has an address at Curraheen, Raleigh North, Macroom, was brought before a special sitting of the district court from Bandon Garda Station where he had been held for questioning in connection with the fatal shooting since last Wednesday.
Mr Lynch is charged with the murder of Derry Coakley at Curraheen, Raleigh North, Macroom between 23 and 24 October 2018.
Inspector Brian Murphy said given the charge the State's application was to remand Mr Lynch in custody to appear again before the district court in Bandon on 2 November.
Judge James McNulty granted the State's application.
An application for free legal aid was also granted.
