Call centre evacuated in Cork after 'irritant' experienced

A call centre in Cork city was evacuated for a short time after reports that two employees experienced symptoms of skin irritation.

Abtran's premises at the Mahon Industrial Estate was fully evacuated and gardaí, fire services personnel in protective gear and an emergency medical team attended the scene.

In a statement, the company said its contact centre at Mahon, which employs 800 people, also includes a mail processing centre.

It said two staff members working there experienced "symptoms of skin irritation".

Operations at the plant have since resumed following the incident.
