One of the largest collections of model aircraft in the world has gone on permanent display at Shannon Airport.
It is the personal collection of Limerick man Michael Kelly, who has been collecting the small aircraft models for 60 years.
The 1,500 Diecast aircraft, each a different model from almost every airline across the globe, were gathered over the past six decades.
Shannon Airport is the only airport in the world to have such a collection.
Mr Kelly, who is 67, says he has been fascinated with aircraft since he was a child and has been buying the small replicas for most of his life.
He estimates he spent half a million euro on the collection over that time.
They were being stored at his home but Shannon Airport offered the collection a permanent display area so it could be enjoyed by thousands of people passing through the facility.
