A 22-year-old man arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a man in Cork yesterday has been released without charge.
A file is being prepared by gardaí for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man had voluntarily presented himself at Togher Garda Station.
The body of 66-year-old Joe O'Callaghan was found at his home on Galway’s Lane in Douglas yesterday morning.
The discovery was made in the hallway by his wife when she arrived home from work.
Mr O'Callaghan was the father of three adult children.
His injuries were consistent with a violent death, and gardaí upgraded their investigation to murder, but said they were not releasing the post mortem results for operational reasons.
Officers from the Garda Technical Bureau have spent a second day carrying out a technical examination of the scene.
