The new Mayor of Limerick City and County Council has been announced as Fianna Fáil's James Collins.
Mr Collins was elected mayor by 27 votes to eight as a result of a pact between his own party and Fine Gael.
He also received the support of a number of independents.
Cllr Collins represents the Limerick city west area and is a publican from Dooradoyle.
He is the son of former TD Michael Collins who represented the Limerick west constituency for many years, and is a first cousin of Deputy Niall Collins who currently represents the Limerick constituency.
Mr Collins has also been selected to be Deputy Willie O'Dea’s running mate for Fianna Fáil in the Limerick City constituency in the next general election.
