New traffic restrictions come into place on Cork’s main thoroughfare St Patrick Street from today.

From 3pm until 6.30pm it will be officially a 'bus corridor', with no cars and trucks allowed along it.

Access will be restricted to buses, taxis, cyclists and emergency vehicles.

It is part of Cork City Council’s city centre movement strategy to make city centre more user-friendly for pedestrians and to facilitate improved bus times.

However, the Cork Business Association say if the new restrictions begins to impact on business, they will be looking for changes.
