A new online database of information regarding Magdalene Laundries in Ireland is being made available to the public for the first time today.

The project is a collaboration between Waterford Institute of Technology and Justice for Magdalenes Research.

It is based on documents collected by Justice for Magdalenes Research which outline the State’s complicity in the abuse of girls and women in the laundries, as well as survivor testimony, newspaper articles and legislative documentation.

The launch of the archive took place in the College Street Campus at WIT.
