A protest by a prisoner at Cork Prison ended this morning after more than 14 hours.
The man had climbed onto the roof of a single-storey observation building within the prison complex at around 9.30pm last night.
He remained there overnight until just after 11.30am this morning.
The man is currently being examined by medical staff at the prison.
A spokesman for the Irish Prisons Service has praised staff at Cork Prison for the manner in which they brought the incident to a conclusion.
