Ireland's largest farmer-owned dairy co-operative, Dairygold has today opened its new state of the art nutritionals campus at is headquarters in Mallow, Co Cork.
The new facility cost €85 million and will be capable of producing a full range of nutritional dairy powders from milk in volumes of up to 1,750 tonnes per week.
Much of the product which will be produced will in turn become a key component in infant formula, which is now being made here and exported overseas, and in particular to China, by several other Irish-based companies.
Ireland currently produces 10% of the entire global exports of infant milk formula.
Dairygold has 1,200 employees and 2,900 milk supplies from the Munster area.
Last year it processed 1.3 billion litres of milk.
