The seaside village of Courtmacsherry in west Cork is to be included on the route of the Wild Atlantic Way following a three month campaign by locals.
It is to appear on the official map from Spring 2018 along with a discovery point in the village.
Bord Fáilte has also agreed to look at including the Seven Heads Peninsula (Timoleague to Clonakilty via Courtmacsherry, Butlerstown, Lislevane & Ring) on the route from 2019.
Campaigner Mark Gannon welcomed the news today saying the economic potential for the four villages is huge.

He said campaigners met with Fáilte Ireland last week.
The tourism board has also agreed to build on the areas strong connection with the Lusitania and has also agreed to host a number of workshops for businesses to help them capitalize on the economic possibilities offered by the tourist route.
