US Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen made a quick stop at Shannon Airport on their way home from a three-country visit to Eastern Europe.
The pair left Air Force Two, which had stopped at Shannon to refuel, and entered the terminal building.
According to reporters travelling with the Vice President, the couple strolled through the duty free shop at the airport.
They also greeted and posed for photos with some US troops who were travelling on a C17 support plane.
Air Force Two touched down at Shannon just before 7.10pm and was expected to take off around 9pm.
