The global pharmaceutical giant GE Healthcare has announced it is to invest in Cork company Zenith Technologies.

The company provides software automation systems to the pharmaceutical industry and employs 700 people worldwide, including 300 in Ireland.

GE Healthcare said the minority investment in Zenith will bring increased automation capability to the heart of its new product development.

GE is at the forefront of developing the flexi-factory concept, which is viewed as the next generation in pharmaceutical production.

Founded 20 years ago by Brendan O'Regan, Zenith Technolgies works on-site for major bio-pharmaceutical manufacturers at 14 global locations.
