Waterford Institute of Technology is to launch an online course aimed at helping parents to assist their children with their maths homework.
The course is designed to equip parents with the skills required to support secondary school children learning the maths syllabus.
"The development of mathematics at second level can leave some parents at a loss as they feel that they are no longer able to help their offspring with gaps in their learning," said Dr Padraig Kirwan, Head of Department of Computing and Mathematics at WIT.
"This Maths for Mums and Dads programme aims to help parents fill in gaps in their own knowledge of mathematics so that they can better support their child through secondary school."
The programme is mostly provided through videos, online exercises and tailored workbooks.
Parents will also receive support through the online portal and in person at WIT.
The course is being launched as part of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning funded All Aboard 2017 programme, a week-long series of events aimed at building confidence in Ireland's digital skills for learning.
The course will be launched by Dr Kirwan at WIT on Monday.
