A man in his 30s was arrested after guns and ammunition were seized in Co Kildare.
During garda patrols as part of Operation Twin Tracks, a man on a scrambler bike was stopped on the Royal Canal Way in Maynooth yesterday evening.
Two semi-automatic pistols and 39 rounds of ammunition were seized.
The man was arrested at the scene and is being held at a garda station in Co Kildare.
The firearms and ammunition have been sent for technical and ballistic examination.
Gardaí said that investigations are ongoing.
