Revenue seizes contraband worth over €158k

Revenue has seized contraband worth more than €158,000 in various operations over the past week in Dublin, the midlands and Rosslare Europort.

The seizures include 40,000 benzodiazepines tablets with an estimated value of €80,000, nearly 100 counterfeit items worth more than €41,700, just over a kilogramme of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of nearly €24,000, and tobacco products worth around €5,800.

The herbal cannabis and drug seizures were made with the help of detector dogs Sam and Ciara.

Sixteen weapons accessories were also seized.

The parcels originated from the US, UK, Poland, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, India and the Czech Republic, and were destimed for various addresses around the country.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
