A man in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious assault in Drogheda, Co Louth.
Gardaí were called to the scene at a residence on St Laurence Street in the town at around 4am this morning.
A man in his 20s was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where his condition is described as critical.
Another man, also aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene.
He is currently being held by gardaí under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
