Infant boy seriously injured following dog attack in Co Kilkenny

An infant boy has been seriously injured following a dog attack in Callan, Co Kilkenny.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident, which involved two dogs, at a house in the town at 3pm.

The infant boy was subsequently taken to Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin.

His injuries have been described as serious but are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

The scene is currently being preserved to allow for a technical examination to take place.

Gardaí have said that the two dogs have been removed by the local dog warden and arrangements are being made with local veterinary services for their euthanisation.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.
