Wind warning for counties Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow passes

A Status Yellow wind warning has passed for counties Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow.

The warning came into place at 8am and expired at 2pm.

Met Éireann said there would be very strong and gusty southeast winds.

It said the high winds could lead to hazardous travelling conditions, wave overtopping and localised coastal flooding.

Meanwhile, there is a gale warning in place from Bloody Foreland to Strangford Lough to Carnsore Point and on the Irish Sea.

It will remain in place until 8pm this evening.

The weather warnings comes as rain and blustery conditions are moving northeastwards across the country today.

The forecast is unsettled for the rest of the week with frequent spells of rain expected.
